A Poem by Adam Lambdin
4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.-Psalm 8:4-8 (NIV)
Drinking his coffee outside, early,
And canopied ‘neath cricket chirps, shrill calls, and Robins also,
Noises so different from each the other,
Listening as their asynchronous, abrasive, and warring
Voices call for each their individual values.
“The sunrise is closer to 6AM,”
Now approaching his clock-in hour
For stock values and grand-scale work….
For once, accross town, she too puts away artificial intell, wrapped in what intuitive tech can affirm,
locating greatness just beyond that, she finds competing calls for her worth and value
detectable in others, somewhat like predictive algorithms seem to promise also.
So many ‘round us, different than us, break each others’ focus.
We cite personal dictums, and mantras as well, not for him or herself only,
whatever the case may be. Each creature bends to seek for more.
How strange we wrap ourselves in cellular and social worlds,
Some artificial yet connected with the whole as well,
While lower creatures, in nature also, build, defend, and make demands.
While enbibed with self-awareness and tech progressing, though faltering yet, in God’s kind intention, we are creatures which matter more.
